Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

•    Learn to install, maintain, test and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
•    Assist in stringing wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension.
•    Assist with opening switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.
•    Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.
•    Assist with placing insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints.
•    Learn to identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments.
•    Assist with excavating and drilling holes to erect and maintain structures

Qualifications

•    May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
•    Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
•    Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
•    Field experience in chosen craft discipline
•    Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

•    Able to meet all physical requirements. 
•    Must have all required tools
•    Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
•    Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
•    Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
•    Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
