Electronics Technician Craftsman

Position Summary

Assist the Technical Department to configure and maintain electronic systems on new marine vessel construction projects and our existing fleet of equipment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Service and maintain existing electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Install electronic equipment for new marine construction.
  • Assist engineering with troubleshooting and new installations.
  • Assist electricians with various repairs and builds.
  • Serve as a technical resource to engineering, technical support, and field operations personnel.
  • Research technical information needed to evaluate system performance and application across fleet.
  • Maintain system documentation.
  • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Capable of thriving in a fast paced, multiple concurrent project environment.
  • Ability to organize workload for timely accomplishment of work.
  • Responsive to equipment run-time and productivity needs.
  • Ability to travel to near-shore jobsites.
  • Travel (primarily domestic) and perform field service.
  • Self-driven, honest, energetic, productive, precise, professional, and has a positive attitude.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong aptitude in computers and electronics. IT background a plus.
  • Strong analytical abilities to research and evaluate new and existing equipment, operations, and processes.
  • Ability to learn new skills as needed by the technical department.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.
  • Preferred areas of expertise:
  1. Computer Hardware and Software
  2. Wireless Communication Links primary
  3. Camera Systems
  4. Wiring/Cable Management
  5. Industrial Sensors
  6. Cell/Satellite Systems cell booster system- third party
  7. Familiarity with programming languages (electrical eng/mechanical eng degree)
  8. (Networking) Industrial networks and communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, etc.)

Requirements

  • TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential (preferred) 
  • Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels.
  • Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Performs other duties as required.
