Position Summary

Plan, lay-out, install, test and repair all types of construction equipment, primarily cranes, in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Assure that all crane equipment works efficiently, safely and is in compliance with the company Preventative Maintenance Program. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures, replacing worn parts like cables, sheaves, and winches in a shipyard environment. Work a 19/9 rotationional schedule and travel to various project sites across the Gulf and East coasts, when required.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Preventative Maintenance: Perform daily, weekly, or monthly inspections and lubrication of cranes (winches, gearboxes, and wire ropes). Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose faults in crane hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical components. Component Replacement: Replace worn/damaged crane parts such as brakes, bearings, rollers, and sheaves. Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment complies with OSHA, crane safety regulations, and manufacturer specs. Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and inventory of parts. Testing: Operate cranes to test functionality after repairs.

Qualifications

• Previous shipyard experience preferred.

• Must possess mechanic experience with lattice boom cranes & excavators.

• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

Requirements

•    Able to meet all physical requirements. 
•    Must have all required tools
•    Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
•    Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
•    Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
•    Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
