Position Summary
The Marine Crane Operator (NCCCO) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a floating crane in a shipyard setting. This role requires a clear understanding of lift plans, the ability to identify potential hazards, and the confidence to exercise stop work authority to ensure safety is always maintained during lifting operations.
This position is located in the Weeks Marine shipyard located in Bourg LA. Work schedule is Monday - Friday (some Saturdays for O.T.)
Certifications
- Must be certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) w/ Lattice Boom (LB, LBC or LBT)
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid DOT Physical
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Safely operate lattice boom and telescopic boom cranes in marine environments
- Communicate clearly with coworkers using standard hand signals or other approved methods
- Load and unload various materials including pipeline, anchors, dredge pump components, cutter heads, cables, and other dredging equipment
- Perform daily equipment inspections and maintain accurate crane operation records
- Clean, service, and lubricate crane equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by project site management
- Adhere to all company and site-specific safety policies and procedures, supporting a culture committed to an “Incident and Injury Free” workplace
Qualifications
- MUST live within local commuting area
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating cranes
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- In-depth knowledge of crane and rigging equipment and operations
- Proven ability to read and apply load charts accurately
- Willingness and ability to work a 45-hour work week, with potential for additional hours
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication in English
