Position Summary
The Foundations Yard serves as a centralized support hub for ongoing foundation projects, providing critical logistics, maintenance, and operational support to ensure field crews can execute work efficiently and without delays. The yard’s primary function is to coordinate the receiving, organization, and distribution of tooling and materials across active projects. This includes managing incoming shipments, inspecting equipment upon arrival, and preparing loads for delivery to job sites in alignment with project schedules. In addition to logistics, the yard plays a key role in tooling readiness and lifecycle management. All tooling is inspected, serviced, and repaired as needed to ensure it meets safety and performance standards before being deployed back into the field. This includes wear part replacement, welding, hardfacing, and general maintenance to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
The Welder Helper supports yard and shop operations by assisting with the fabrication, maintenance, and handling of tooling and components. This role focuses on developing welding and mechanical skills while performing general labor tasks to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform MIG and stick welding on fabricated metal components and tooling
- Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
- Lay out, position, align, and fit parts for assembly
- Tack-weld, bolt, clamp, and assemble components
- Operate hand and power tools (grinders, impacts, etc.)
- Use cutting equipment such as acetylene torches
- Inspect finished welds to ensure quality and accuracy
- Repair and rework parts as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety, quality, and production guidelines
- Work collaboratively with the production team to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Operate forklift and overhead crane.
- Clean tools and equipment using pressurized water, needle scales, grinders, etc.
- Assist in the safe loading / unloading of tools and equipment to and from trucks or in and out of the shop.
Qualifications
- May require high school diploma or equivalent with general knowledge of welding
- Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position
- SMAW (Stick), GMAW (Mig) welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is a plus
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus
- Must always have a high awareness for safety
- The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of how to accurately read a measuring tape
Requirements
- The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
- Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
- May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
- May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
- Regular, reliable attendance
- May require U.S. Driver License
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
