Position Summary

Buckskin Mining Company is a surface coal mine located 10 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming within the Southern Powder River Basin. The mine delivers its coal to numerous customers throughout the United States and has shipped more than 406 million tons of high-quality, low sulfur coal to its customers.

Buckskin is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Plant Mechanic to join its team. Eligible applicant(s) must be able to work safely in a surface coal mine processing plant environment while performing duties of this position. This person(s) must have a history of producing quality work with attention to detail and completing the job right the first time. This person(s) must possess the following experience.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

 A minimum of 3 years working knowledge of maintenance on processing plant and conveyor systems is desired.

  • Troubleshoot and repair various mechanical, lube, and air systems.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance such as inspection, replacement of conveyor rollers, idlers, wear parts, filters, wash down.
  • Perform weld repairs and metal fabrication as needed on various plant conveyor, chute, and crusher systems with the ability to run an air arc, oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, weld with stick, hardwire, and II70 dual shield. 
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabricate based off the blueprints. Design and build from general prints as needed.
  • Ability to run support equipment such as forklift, front end loader, overhead cranes, backhoe, telehandler.
  • Work alongside contractors on major rebuilds.
  • Write work orders and order appropriate parts using basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform work in a safe manner with minimal supervision, while following best practices and in accordance with company policies.
  • Performs other plant-oriented duties as required.

  

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge, skills, and abilities for position.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and/or computer systems desirable but not required.

 

Requirements

  • Able to meet all physical requirements. 
  • Must have all required tools
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the workload, and some overtime.
  • Occasionally operate plant and/or load trains.
