Position Summary
Buckskin Mining Company is a surface coal mine located 10 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming within the Southern Powder River Basin. The mine delivers its coal to numerous customers throughout the United States and has shipped more than 406 million tons of high-quality, low sulfur coal to its customers.
Buckskin is currently seeking a highly motivated candidates to join our team as a Certified Blaster. Eligible applicant(s) must be able to work safely in a surface coal mine environment while performing duties of this position. This person(s) must have a history of producing quality work with attention to detail and completing the job right the first time.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain paperwork and records of materials in accordance with ATF guidelines.
- Maintain blasting reports.
- Mark patterns, locations, and depths of holes for drilling.
- Driving and operating drilling machines.
- Load holes with materials for blasting.
- Tie patterns in accordance with timing sequences.
- Understand various blast patterns and timing sequences.
- Detonating charges.
- Operate a variety of Mining Equipment on smooth to extremely rough surfaces.
- Knowledgeable of equipment in respects to pre and post shift inspections.
- Ability to perform work in a safe manner with minimal supervision, while following best practices and in accordance with company policies.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools
Requirements
- Have prior blasting experience and have a current Wyoming Blasting License.
- Prior drilling experience preferred.
- Able to meet all physical requirements.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to work rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the workload
