Position Summary

The Pipe Welder will perform a variety of functions in this role. Most of the time (approximately 70%) will be welding on process piping mostly with exposed piping and very little underground. This position will also be required to perform fit-up as well as welding of carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe. About 20% of the time will perform fit-up and welding on structural steel components of carbon steel, stainless-steel, and aluminum. The remaining 10% will be completing basic labor work tasks within the Project Scope of Work along with a team of Craftsmen.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Candidates must have minimum of 5 years’ experience, be familiar with industrial and process piping systems with specific attention to Water Treatment, Industrial and Structural installations.
  • Experience as a Pipefitter is a plus
  • Must be familiar w/industry standard & code compliant construction practices.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to bevel joint cutting with an oxy-acetylene torch, grinder, or die-grinder is mandatory.
  • Must be able to pass a pipe welding practical tests as follows.
    • Carbon steel- 6010 root with 7018 fill in 6g position on 2” Monster coupon
    • Tig - carbon steel and stainless steel piping
  • Weld pipe ranging in size from 3/4" up to 24" (majority of pipe welding is performed on 16” pipe).
  • Weld pipe runs on critical components including; Compressors, Pumps, Blowers, Condensers, and various pieces of equipment.
  • Weld 25 diameter inches in 10 hours of Sch.10 SSP
  • Other duties as needed on the job site


•    Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position. 
•    Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision. 
•    Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently. 


•    Able to meet all physical requirements.  
•    Must have all required tools 
•    Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 100 ft) 
•    Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions 
•    Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload 
•    Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
