Fire Sprinkler Inspections Technician - all experience levels

Position Summary

Performs inspections of fire sprinkler, fire alarm and detection, fire extinguishers, and backflow prevention devices in line with national and local code requirements. 

Experience Level

Entry, mid-level, foreman.  Opportunities are available for entry-level candidates to learn on the job.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

•    Inspections of wet pipe, pre-action, dry pipe, and foam fire sprinkler systems.
•    Inspections and testing of fire pumps including annual full-flow functional testing.
•    Inspections and testing of fire alarm and detection systems.
•    Inspections and testing of fire extinguishers.
•    Completion of the NFPA report forms associated with the various systems being inspected using a handheld PC device.

Qualifications

•    High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.

This position offers opportunities for entry-level candidates to learn on the job.

 

For experienced Technicians, preference will be given to those with:
•    NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems 
•    Experience with fire detection systems including VESDA, FM200 and other gas extinguishing systems
•    Experience testing fire alarm, access control, and security systems
•    Comprehensive knowledge of low voltage wiring, troubleshooting, and National Fire Alarm Codes
•    Experience reading and interpreting system design plans and construction drawings

•    Able to distinguish primary colors
•    Able to climb, work at heights, and work in confined spaces
•    Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions 
•    Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends when needed 
•    Observe and comply with all safety and project rules
•    Able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with others 
•    Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
